Liverpudlian Baritone Danny Shelvey made his debut with Glyndebourne as Marchese d’Obigny La Traviata. A champion of contemporary queer works, Danny recently performed as a soloist in the world tour of the critically acclaimed Faggots and Their Friends Between Revolutions at London’s Royal Festival Hall, Ruhtriennale Bochum, Musiekgebouw Amsterdam and Park Avenue Armoury New York City. He performed Silvio Pagliacci in the recent UK tour for English Touring Opera and sang Oreste Iphigenia en Tauride in a queer retelling by Martin Pickard and Laura Attridge at Blackheath Halls. For Scottish Opera Danny has performed Luiz The Gondoliers, Maximillian Candide, Morales Carmen, Torero Ainadamar. He debuted the role of Baldr in the Royal Ballet and Opera production of The Monstrous Child ‘singing lines shaped as elegantly as the creases in his immaculate trousers’ and toured Japan as Ozzie in the Anthony McDonald production of On The Town. Other roles include Luke in Fierce Love at Tete a Tete; Danilo The Merry Widow Arcadia Opera; Argante Rinaldo Grimeborn Festival Festival; Ulisse Il Ritorno d’Ulisse in Patria and Sid Albert Herring RNCM.

A former Glyndebourne Jerwood Young Artist, Danny completed his studies at RNCM, Guildhall and National Opera Studio where he was supported by Countess of Munster, the Richard Van Allen prize and The Frederick Cox Prize.
